Leeane Jensen, Mph, UCSF
Director of Wellbeing

Leeane began her career at UCSF 11 years ago, straddling graduate school with part time work as a personal trainer for the Fitness and Recreation division of Campus Life Services. Later, she advanced to become a Fitness Manager at Bakar Fitness Center and then transitioned to become UCSF’s Wellness Coordinator when the department of Living Well at UCSF was established. Soon thereafter, she became the department’s Wellness Manager and then Director.

Over the past two years, Leeane has taken Living Well at UCSF to new heights, positively impacting the wellbeing of an increasingly large number of UCSF community members. Although known for enthusiastically engaging us in several wellness initiatives, such as “step it up challenges,” Leeane is particularly well regarded for leading the Healthy Beverage Initiative, which removed beverages with added sugar (Coke, Gatorade, etc.) from sale on all UCSF’s campuses. The initiative dovetailed into a research project, with several of UCSF’s leading scientists and physicians studying the impact of this change.
